World Homeopathy Awareness & a Fuel Crisis

April 10th is the birthday of Homeopathy’s founder Dr Samuel Hahnemann & the start of Homeopathy Awareness week.
We are also in the thick of National Protests & blockades here in Ireland about the disproportionate Government taxes on fuel costs and much of the country has literally run out of fuel …
What happens when we run out of fuel or when fuel reaches dangerously low levels?
Generally this is when pathology sets up – we have insufficient fuel in the tank to keep everything in optimum working order and compromises have to be made to protect and conserve fuel for the most important parts of us…Or we have a leak of fuel – something is taking disproportionate amounts of our energy to suppress, to manage, navigate or survive….
- We may at first ‘juggle’ resources in an attempt to keep going as we are, ignoring any dips in energy or need for rest, more food etc…
- When we fail to address the lack of available resources or our compromised ability to access the right resources our systems make choices for us – we simply cannot continue at the same pace & some activities may run at half measures or sometimes not at all
- It’s when our ‘normal’, familiar behaviour gets interrupted that we tend to start paying attention & seeking solutions either outside of ourselves or in our own behaviour & choices – How we choose to do this will depend on our individual histories, beliefs and experiences…
- At this point we are at a crossroads – do what we have historically done in the past and actually what’s bought us to this point or take stock, start choosing differently & even though we may feel apprehensive, nervous or fearful try something else..
- The choices we make at this point will determine the outcome long term – more of the same or the possibility of something better?
We may dream of living a life of ease, Freedom, choices & according to our values, a life we want for not only ourselves but our children & grandchildren….
We may talk about this dream & long for it but what are we doing to actually create it?
“The best of Intentions without meaningful actions are destined to become unrealised dreams”
Many of my Clients come to me having tried everything else after they run out of fuel and develop pathology, they come out of desperation or because they recognise that they have been stuck in a pattern of behaviour that is forever circling and never resolving….they want something truly transformative, something that strengthens & empowers. Something that helps them to make choices that support them realising those dream lives & make them real not just some far off vision of loveliness unattainable & unreachable….
Most come in various stages of burn out ie very low fuel reserves and this is key not no fuel because then we are dead but no spare fuel, none for other peoples BS or to offer to others – Menopause can be the final straw in this or life events that take high levels of energy to process or navigate – deaths/redundancies/loss of income/relationship endings/accidents AND toxicity all contribute to our fuel levels becoming depleted…
In Homeopathy we take them all into account and we prescribe in the most appropriate & accessible way FOR YOU AT THIS TIME.
Any of the thousands of Homeopathic remedies may be the best match for you – there is seldom any one size fits all in Homeopathy.
I am aware that atm I am not really running with a full fuel tank myself – my beloved dog died suddenly last week only days after a terminal diagnosis and the processing of that is taking a large proportion of my fuel ….I have felt very supported & helped along by a couple of remedies myself, enabling me to accept, feel and honour my grief & do whatever I feel is necessary to let it play out healthily …
So let’s start with a reminder of some ‘I’ve run out of fuel because I’m grieving’ remedies:-
- Aconite – addresses the initial mental/emotional shock of the loss
- Arnica – can do the above & any physical shock eg if it was an accident that you were involved in or you feel slightly numbed from the shock & may even insist that you feel ok.
- Ignatia – the state of raw, almost hysterical grief – can’t eat, sleep or function just wants to cry and may be sighing a lot from the holding of breath or a sensation of a lump in the throat
- Nat-mur – tendency to be very private about emotions, feels them deeply but doesn’t feel safe to express them with anyone….wants to be alone to cry & may distract with being helpful & busy looking after others. A wall of protection around the heart
- Phos-Ac – total apathy & collapse, may withdraw completely and just sleep, no energy for anything
- Staphysagria – With grief there is a sense of outrage/anger & frustration in normally gentle placid people but no place to put this anger or express it in a healthy way..
- Australian Bush Flower Essence ‘Sturt Desert Pea’ – Deep hurt & sadness, enables the moving through of healthy grieving & may also release old griefs
Maybe you aren’t clear about the cause of you running out of fuel & it’s more a general – been running on empty for a while, not topping up the tank and now everything feels like an uphill struggle?
All the following states are adrenally compromised states and therefore usually low energy – in Homeopathy we match not only the choice of remedy but the choice of potency too. So personally I would give these in low potencies over time – perhaps increasing the potency with relief – if it’s still indicated – & watching out for significant shifts in energy reserves which may mean a change in remedy is needed…
- Arnica – a lovely adrenal support especially after periods of hard, physical work
- Carcinosin – My Queen of remedies! Supports the state of Burn out from grief and from long periods of looking after everyone else rather than ourselves – If everyone else is happy then I am…poor boundaries, finds it hard to say ‘no’, often the peacemaker or negotiator of the family…
- Kali-phos – wonderful nervous system support especially after periods of mental stress, exams, tests, studying…
- Arsenicum-album – Exhaustion in someone who constantly worries about ill health or dis-eases or not feeling in control of everything…
- Nux-Vom – exhaustion due to a drive to be the best, number one in business or in competitions, sports, at school or even within a family dynamic. Strives to be top of the game & tries to address the tiredness with reaching for sugar, alcohol, drugs, coffee or other stimulants which just compounds the exhaustion…
Or maybe you are clear that fuel has run out due to major hormonal changes?
- Sepia – not well since times of hormonal change eg menstrual cycle, puberty, menopause, synthetic hormones. Exhaustion, irritability, impatience, low libido. Usually better for some movement – exercise or dancing. Averse to being touched
- Pulsatilla – also not well since times of hormonal change or perception that they have been abandoned – weepy, clingy, needs tlc, hugs, kisses etc
- Bush Flower ‘SIlver Princess’ – flat, aimless, lack of direction, ‘Is this it??’ brings motivation, direction & life purpose
- Bush Flower ‘She Oak’ – balances hormones at ant time especially when hoping to conceive. Addresses the distress felt during infertility…
Of course there are many ways that we may reach a stage when we are running on empty and the beautiful thing about Homeopathy is there are remedies to address any possible state and support us to optimum health again.
Not only do remedies help us to resolve any fuel leaks, re-fill the fuel tanks, distribute the fuel to the places that most need it & enable us to use that fuel fully and effectively, but also it often offers a fresh perspective on exactly which type of fuel is most needed by us and how to prevent further crashes by making Healthier choices in the future.
Now you are aware of some of what’s possible with Homeopathy, what have you got to lose by trying it for yourself?
